First experiences on the water with an English-speaking instructor

The CNPA’s Optimist Camp in Lesconil, for 8-10 year olds allow children to gain a real technical foundation on which to build later. This camp is ideal after having tried either Swabby (Moussaillon) ou Multi-sport camp. The greatest skippers of the Vendée Globe also began this way.

A small, stable centerboard dinghy, which is simple to maneuver, the optimist allows children to get a taste of sailing and to learn and perfect their skills in utmost safety on the magnificent bay of Lesconil.

General objectives

rigging the boat
judging the strength and direction of the wind
mastering the boat’s equilibrium (wind on the sail, the tiller, positioning in the boat)

The CNPA’s Optimist Camp in Lesconil, for 8-10 year olds , is ideal for gradually progressing, learning how to navigate and becoming rapidly autonomous on the water.
